This week we will be having some important conversations around open education and innovation. To refresh your memory on some of these things we are including some links for review. It would be a good idea to spend a bit of time reviewing these:

Interesting to discusse CC and MOOC…seems as a “common terms” but some times we do not use correctly.

Creative Commons licenses are very flexible, not only of total access, some of their derivatives have properties or restrictions similar to copyright. For example there are some that let you share, without modifying, credit the author, not profit. Of all these you can make various combinations.

Promote collaborative learning based on the notion of Creative Commons (CC). It can be useful to improve the individual creations of students and teachers, while encouraging remixing and deriving new creations from them. It increases the responsibilities of the individuals and motivates them to participate in the collaborative learning activity, by the way I share the following publication:

You always retain copyright rights for works you create. Applying Creative Commons licenses does not change that, it just asserts additional conditions you declare for how other people may reuse your work.

There is no cost for using / applying a creative commons license.
There is no commercial license; but Creative Commons licenses other than Non-Commercial does mean you can use the content in a product or service that you sell. The purpose of the licenses is less about resell, but more to allow artists and creators use and modify other people’s content.

Sabiendo identificar los diferentes tipos de recursos que CC ofrece puede hacerse buen uso y confiar en la información que sitios como scoop.it ofrecen bajo estas licencias. Lo interesante es diseñar actividades novedosas donde se motive a los estudiantes a hacer uso de estos recursos.

Creo que las Creative Commons son un buen recurso que de manera legal podamos acceder al conocimiento de otras personas, de otros colectivos de investigación. ¿Los alumnos cómo se adecuarán al trabajo académico y al entendido legal de la información que visualizan, descargan o comparten?

The more common purpose of Creative Commons is to create new forms of media from existing ones (often photography, music, video), to remix them. We generally have a convention for reusing text (citing the source) but this ls rarely applied to media.

The advantage of some cc is that you can use them for free, share information without loosing copy right and even help that your work be known widely.

I think CC licenses are great for academic purposes, since allows users to share information whitout the need to contact the creator of the content as long as you abide by certain rules. It allows and speeds up innovation.

Creative Commons resources are fantastic, especially the media content that allows creating content to generate new creative products, or we can even be the reference for someone else to create other things, all without affecting copyright.

It is now when the following popular saying makes sense, “once you have shared some content on the Internet, it will be public”, stop being yours and it becomes public property.
The CC, is an attempt to regulate and give credit to who deserves it, but let’s face it this will be difficult to achieve because it is not laws or rights if not a commercial culture to obtain profits from scientific publications and intellectual properties .
Once we understand that the information is culture and share it is a right then we will give it the value it deserves.
