      Considero que la implementación de las tecnologías es importante para la formación del estudiante, a cada momento la infraestructura es más adecuada. Las tecnologías son la herramienta que nos permite mover las piezas duras de la vieja forma de la enseñanza.       Yes, the udg is a very robust system with trained teachers in all areas. We have a digital library with material from students and teachers, but it is not open. Maybe only one platform with access to any person is missing.

        Aprendizaje colaborativo en línea es parte de la identidad de Wikipedia, sin embargo no es del todo fidedigna la información, algunas veces si está citado correctamente, pero considero no siempre es leer de primera mano la información. Está redactada por usuarios.
        La herramienta de Wiki para Moodle es muy agradable para una actividad con los estudiantes.

        As Information Science specialist, I consider Wikipedia as a useful tool used to spread knowledge about almost everything to almost everyone who has access to the internet. In this sense is kind of a democratizing effort. In academic field, I think we can share more information in wikipedia in Spanish. There is more than 1´391,000 articles in Spanish, against more than 5´578,00 articles in English. We have a lot to share with the world. Knowledge is not only academic rigorous papers. It comes in many forms an options.

      Considero que Wikipedia hablando tecnológicamente es una herramienta muy potente que abre el espacio para que se publiquen investigaciones, trabajos que realiza CUALQUIERA y la calidad depende de cada persona que hace uso, admito que no la recomendamos mucho pero podríamos cambiar la forma de verla, así como rompimos paradigmas de las redes sociales, podremos trasformar herramientas como wikis para crear un universo abierto con información de calidad y bien referenciada.

      En realidad wikipedia aporta mucho contenido, pero la calidad del contenido de los temas puede verse disminuida debido a la persona que publica, en la actualidad el conocimiento y las aportaciones encontradas en investigaciones quedan en entredicho ya que muchas veces los resultados se basan en experimentos que carecen del número de muestras necesarias para dar conclusiones, yo en particular cuando no recuerdo alguna fórmula de un tema en específico realizo consultas y de ahí tomo información sólo de temas en los que tengo conocimiento y que estoy seguro de su veracidad; no uso Wikipedia como profesor en mis cursos.

      I think Wikipedia is a quick reference tool, but I use it carefully. I recommend my students to check the references at the bottom for more information, but generally I encourage my students to check biblio virtual or academic google.

      Wikipedia es una herramienta de internet, que al principio de consideraba confiable, pero con el paso de tiempo la confiabilidad se fue deteriorando, porque son miles de usuarios que pueden subir cualquier tipo de información y eso es lo que hace que el sistema no funcione. Debemos de buscar fuentes, confiables, donde la información que nos den sea totalmente profesional y verídica.

      Do you know of specific Wikipedia articles that are wrong? Can you share a link? Or it lack of completeness?

      I’m really sorry, but I don’t speak Spanish (Google Translate has helped me read this thread), so please excuse my responding in English.

      I work at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. I recognise much of the discussion in this thread, and agree with a lot of it.

      Reliability is a concern but I’d argue much less than it used to be. There is a more rigorous editorial process – new articles are more heavily scrutinised and that happens more quickly. It isn’t 100% perfect but research projects that have examined samples of content have generally found them to be of a reasonable standard of quality (overall coherence of articles is often a bigger issue than factual accuracy).

      The conversation about reliability is a very interesting one for me though, because it very quickly opens up a bigger set of questions such as who gets to write the web? How is open knowledge constructed? Why are information literacy skills so important in a digital age?

      Wikipedia has tools like the page history that help investigate the provenance of an article in order to make a judgement about reliability. A bigger consideration I think is what gets written about at all. English Wikipedia has an acknowledged problem of systemic bias because it doesn’t have a very diverse set of people editing it. Yet Google gives preferential treatment to Wikipedia content and Amazon Alexa and similar home devices are trained on the corpus of Wikipedia articles.

      Given the power of Wikipedia as an information dissemination platform, and that our students do use it as a starting point for research (even if they don’t tell us) what are the risks and costs if we don’t engage?

      Wikipedia creo es una excelente fuente de información inmediata, sobre todo si los temas son cotidianos o básicos, sin embargo depende del nivel de profundidad del tema al que se quiera llegar se deberá verificar las referencias y revisar otras las fuentes para validar la información.

      In my opinion, Wikipedia does not fill my expectations as a science teacher, yet. Many documents include their source which is always verifiable. But other documents don’t, or only cite a non- verifiable source.
      Often my students start their research in Wikipedia, which is fine with me, but I always ask them to cite the original source, of course, after reading it.

      In my opinion open pedagogy provides teachers and students tools and resources that we can reuse, as a teacher we need to have the skill to upload
